Spring 2010 Fashion Week Presentation
New York Fashion Week (September 12, 2009) – Stacey Bendet once again brings her work to life with the launch of alice + olivia’s spring 2010 collection. This season the innovative designer will transform a raw gallery space in New York City’s meatpacking district into a live rock concert scene featuring a performance by French girl band Plastiscines and styled by Stacey’s longtime friends Anda and Masha.
Following the success of the past themed presentations “alice in wonderland”, “breakfast in bed”, “hippy queen” and Mick Rock photo gallery at alice + olivia’s Bryant Park Store, Stacey once again spins a stylish tale through the music of the Plastiscines, enlisting the band to perform and promote the playful mood of the collection. Both the band and the runway models, posing as adoring fans, will showcase the designers’ spring looks.
Stacey’s inspiration for her spring 2010 collection was “the power of the female”. She wanted to represent girls “predicating sexuality, cleverness and charm” by combining influence from all the women who influence her every day. Keeping her feminine side in mind, she set about to create a collection she describes as “playful with an edge”. The designer often credits her line as catering to every kind of woman; creating clothes that are meant to make a woman feel both sexy and sweet. After seeing the Plastiscines’ “Barcelona” video, Stacey decided that there was no better way to bring her spring collection to life than with a performance by the band. The band exudes a “candy punk vibe” that is in tune with alice + olivia’s cleverly unique style.
Chic structured dresses in pale pinks, purples and neutrals are mixed with the brand’s traditional black and white colors. Small floral prints, embellished tops and structured jackets with cut out details define the flirty and inventive collection. alice + olivia will also showcase their basics line featuring t-shirts and button-downs in soft, butter-like fabrics, linens and metallics. This season alice + olivia also unveils their latest collaboration with the jewelry line Erickson Beamon and their continued partnership with Payless, featuring fashion-forward footwear for spring.

Spring 2010 will also mark the launch of alice + olivia’s premiere high-end collection. The new line was created to add more diversity for their specialty stores and allow customers to have a more unique alice + olivia shopping experience. The collection consists of hand worked pieces that use luxurious materials and detailed craftsmanship. These edgy and inventive designs will be available as part of a limited edition collection.
As always, the imaginative and edgy collection will reflect Stacey’s lifestyle, as the ever busy designer continues to live bi-coastally and is mom to ten-month old daughter Eloise Breckenridge Eisner. Stacey views life and fashion as synonymous, and continues to find ways to creatively blend the two elements. With a chic spring collection brought to life by the Plasticines music, alice + olivia pushes the boundaries of art and fashion.

TW Steel Unveils Renault F1 Team Collection
Basel, Switzerland (March 17, 2010) – TW Steel celebrated the start of BASELWORLD 2010 by unveiling its new ‘Renault F1 Team’ collection – the first executions produced as the Dutch watch brand begins its association as ‘Official Timing Partner’ to the Renault F1 Team in 2010.
TW Steel’s newest offerings are based on two separate design platforms. The four-model ‘Renault F1 Team Pilot’ collection celebrates Renault’s early association with the aviation industry and specifically the origins of the first oversized watches. The ‘Renault F1 Team CEO Tech’ collection, also with four-models, offers a more luxurious edge to TW Steel’s partnership embracing the team’s world championship winning pedigree.
“This was an exciting project for me and I’m pleased that we have a collection that reflects both the best of TW Steel and the Renault F1 Team,” stated Ton Cobelens, TW Steel’s Chief Design Officer.
“I was fascinated with Renault’s background in aviation and developed the Pilot models from this research. Pilot watches were known for being oversized with bold, easy to read faces to ensure greater visibility at all times. We’ve developed this concept with the use of big numbers clearly visible in both the day and night. We’re offering the consumer a strong, distinctive looking watch with its roots planted firmly in Renault’s illustrious history.”
On the ‘Renault F1 Team CEO Tech’ executions Cobelens remarked; “In addition to the Pilot models we wanted to offer something that reflected more of the prestige associated with both Formula One and obviously the Renault F1 Team’s on-track successes. The Renault F1 Team CEO Tech watches purposefully mirror the values that have made TW Steel’s current CEO collection a success, by offering a more elaborate watch very much in keeping with the lifestyle associated with the sport.”
The TW670 (45mm) and TW671 (48mm) Pilot models feature a three-hand, big caliber movement on a bold black dial sporting the Renault F1 Team logo. The TW672 (45mm) and TW673 (48mm), also in the Pilot collection, feature a chronograph movement with all executions using a hardened mineral crystal and black leather straps – complete with TW Steel’s two steel dot signature.
The TW680 (45mm) and TW681 (48mm) in the CEO Tech collection feature a chronograph movement able to measure and display time to 1/20th of a second with real Sapphire crystal – a rarity for a watch with these case dimensions. The steel case is complimented by the use of a soft black silicon rubber strap.
The TW682 (44mm) and TW683 (48mm) editions, both with a chronograph movement, feature AA-grade black PVD plating on the case. The crown and screws on the bezel utilize AA-grade gold plating for further distinction. All Tech watches are waterproof to 10ATM.
TW Steel, the name meaning ‘The Watch in Steel’, can be found at BASELWORLD 2010 in Hall 1.1, ‘Hall of Desires’ – Stand No. A71, 17th – 25th March 2010.
The White Fashion Trend for 2010

White owes much of its success to its versatility this season, matching any complexion and the abilty to be teamed with any color to give it a crisp, fresh feel.
Having seen the emergence of the “winter-white” bag for Winter 2007/2008, now it’s time to mix cool white with nautical navy and white sailor denim jeans for summer 2008. Currently major jean brands such as 7 for All Mankind and Levi’s offer a number of white variations on the classics, proving that winter white can be worn all year long.
The Great White Shirt Trend
This year’s equivalent of the little black dress is the great white shirt. The GWD has been given a trendy feel with edgy cuts, a new twist on collars, volumnous sleeves, frills, ruffles, ribbons and bows.
Think white shirts and think Carolina Herrera, the darling of the socialites, with her crisp white cottons. According to Lamont Jones of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette of May 21 2007, Venezuelan born New York fashion designer, Hererra, “has done for the white shirt what Burbery did for trench coats.” Along with the Brazilian-French designer Anne Fontaine, whose French fashion label is based around this classic, these ladies have lifted the humble white shirt from the realms of casual and business to glamorous eveningwear and a red carpet look.
We are now in an age where it is acceptable to wear your white shirt with a flowing ball skirt, as Sharon Stone proved when making Oscar history at the 70th Academy Awards. Ms Stone teamed her an oversized men’s shirt with her floor-length skirt by Vera Wang, for a Cinderella moment. Consequently, the white shirt has gone from Hollywood to high-street, with major UK retail cahins such as House of Fraser, Dorothy Perkins and Top Shop, and online retailers Asos.com and Boohoo.com, jumping onboard.
